Researchers' Proposals

A number of different biological and synthetic compounds have been found to enhance the non-specific system in fish, and shown to increase barrier of infection against a series of pathogens simultaneously, both specific and opportunistic ones. In our research we used levamisole, a well known antihelmintic, ISK, a polypetide extracted from fish, quarternary ammonium compounds, b-1-3 glucans, vitamin C and U to show immunostimulatory activity of this compounds on non-specific defense mechanisms on fish including macrophage activities. Some immunostimulants (ISK, Levamisole and Qaurternary Ammonium Compound) were used as adjuvants in Aeromonas salmonicida vaccine and elevated the effect of vaccination.
