PREVENTION OF AGE-RELATED DISORDERS


Mean age of EU’s population and number of people above 60 is constantly growing. Improvement of the quality of life of elderly people is an important need to be anticipated. Physiological decline is responsible for the majority of age related disorders, like progressive decrease of brain dopamine content for depression of mood, impaired movement coordination, and loss of sexual activity; decrease of body water/body fat ratio for fatigue and enhanced sensitivity to drug induced injuries; loss of bone calcium for fractions; selenium and chromium deficiency, depending on geographical areas, for weakened immune response and downgraded glucose tolerance, respectively, etc. A complex drug/dietary prophylaxis, specified for different European regions, should be developed by a multidisciplinary approach to prevent unnecessary miseries of senescence
