REGIONAL SOCIOLOGY AND ECONOMY RESEARCH

An empirical analysis of the regional social, demographical and economic processes and disparities of Hungary, the correlations of the spatial aspect of the economic progress and the infrastructure progress as well as crisis and backwardness issues of the spatial aspect of economic growth.

Specification of essentially different region and settlement types from social, demographic or economic structure/structural change point of view, and analysis of the characteristics of these types.


(A historical comparative study of the Censuses actuated by the Central Statistical Office, and the annual settlement-set information stock. A spatial analysis of surveys in 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2001, based on their settlement-set analyses and covering all important spatial and public administration categories and types, is just being prepared.)


Analysis of the changes in spatial disparity, in the fields of qualification, culture, employment, incomes, property, consumption factors, living conditions at settlements, and indicators of the level of civilization, dwelling conditions and communal aspects.


Analysis of the interconnections of migration tendencies with spatial and social mobility.


Research of the spatial disparities and changes of the structure of life and activities. (A secondary, spatial analysis of the life manners and timescale survey of the Central Statistical Office. A comparative study of results of the 1986-87 and the 1999-2000 surveys is just being prepared.)


Sociological analysis of the social estimation of the dwelling and the regional circumstances and the settlement policies. Research of the interconnections of urbanization dynamics and the social estimation of spatial circumstances.


Analysis of the spatial regulation of economy, and of the effects of state, local governmental and civil sphere financing on spatial processes.


Elaboration of the objectives of the spatial monitoring and information systems.
